Responsibilities:
- Assist the Party Chief as directed
- Understand procedures and operation of all surveying equipment (Static GPS, RTK GPS, conventional total station, data collectors, levels, pipeline locator, magnetometer)
- Ensure all equipment is in proper working order
- Provide daily maintenance and security of equipment
- Report damaged or defective equipment to the appropriate supervisor
- Supervise and assist with loading of equipment, boats, off-road vehicles, and/or marsh master
- Mentor/train Rodmen on proper survey procedures and equipment operation
- Assist Party Chief with daily operations, including review of project drawings
- Complete daily status forms prior to departure from office
- Participate in and conduct JSA and BBS observations
- Adhere to MPH Safety Policy and Procedures
- Properly store equipment and monitor job area safety
- Prepare field notes; understand how to write and read field notes and maps
- Pay attention to access routes to job sites for safe navigation
- Assume responsibilities of Party Chief in his absence
Key Tasks:
- Identify and follow all safe work procedures
- Consult with Party Chief to identify equipment, materials, and supplies needed for projects
- Coordinate with Rodman regarding project needs
- Ensure Rodman duties are completed prior to mobilization
- Identify safety requirements for each project
- Operate all MPH survey instruments, including total stations, GPS receivers, data collectors, levels, magnetometers, and pipeline locators
- Assist Party Chief with new employee training on safe work practices and equipment operation
- Clean and maintain all assigned MPH surveying equipment
- Report damaged or defective equipment promptly
- Assume Party Chief responsibilities when required
Essential Qualifications:
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but straightforward instructions
- Problem-solving skills for standardized situations
- Physical requirements: standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 100 lbs
- Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
