What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dietary Aide position at Morris County Hospital?
Accepting applications for a dietary aide that will work from11:00 am to 7:00 pm with a rotating schedule. This is a benefits eligible position that includes shift and weekend differentials. The Dietary Aide supports the food service department in the preparation and delivery of meals to patients, ensuring that dietary needs and preferences are met. This role involves assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness in food service areas, and providing excellent customer service to patients and staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the preparation and assembly of meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines.
- Serve meals to patients, ensuring that dietary restrictions and preferences are adhered to.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas, including washing dishes and sanitizing surfaces.
- Monitor food inventory and report shortages to the supervisor.
- Help with the delivery of food trays to nursing staff in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff and dietitians regarding patient dietary needs and preferences.
- Participate in training and follow all safety and hygiene regulations.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Basic knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements is helpful.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and handle multiple tasks.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
Dietary aides typically work in a hospital kitchen or dining area, interacting with kitchen staff, patients, and healthcare personnel. Hours may vary, including weekends and holidays.

- Greet all patients, families and hospital visitors with a positive, cheerful attitude.
- Ensure food preparation for optimal nutrition (including attention to various age groups of patients) and economic handling of food, as well as efficient usage of time.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma
Previous knowledge of in food service or healthcare settings is a plus.
Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft office.
