Role Description The Head Baseball Coach is a full-time, on-site position based in Sumter, SC, responsible for leading all aspects of the Morris College baseball program. The role includes planning and conducting practices, developing game strategies, teaching sport-specific skills, and fostering student-athlete growth on and off the field. The Head Baseball Coach recruits and evaluates prospective student-athletes, ensures adherence to institutional, conference, and governing-body regulations, and promotes academic success and character development. Daily responsibilities also include supervising assistant coaches and staff, managing program equipment and facilities, coordinating team travel and logistics, overseeing the program budget, and representing the baseball program at campus and community events. The coach is expected to cultivate a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, integrity, and respect, while supporting the overall mission and values of Morris College.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Baseball and Coaching Baseball, including advanced knowledge of strategies, rules, player development, and game management.
- Proven experience in Coaching and Training, with the ability to design effective practice plans, strength and conditioning programs, and individualized player development plans.
- Strong Communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with student-athletes, colleagues, administrators, families, and external stakeholders.
- Experience in recruiting and retaining student-athletes, with a commitment to academic success, eligibility standards, and holistic student development.
- Knowledge of applicable athletic regulations, compliance standards, and safety protocols in collegiate athletics.
- Ability to model and promote integrity, sportsmanship, respect, and inclusivity within a diverse campus community
