Job Title: Senior SQL Server / SSAS BI Developer
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced SQL Server / SSAS BI Developer to support the development and maintenance of a Research Data Repository and related data initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in SQL Server technologies, particularly SSAS, and a solid understanding of data warehousing, reporting, and analytics solutions.
This role requires collaboration with business stakeholders, development of data models and reporting solutions, and participation across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Key Responsibilities
- Interface with key stakeholders and apply technical expertise across the SDLC
- Design, develop, test, implement, and support data solutions including data models, cubes, and reports
- Develop and maintain SSAS cubes and analytical data structures
- Create and manage reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- Work closely with business teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Automate data integration and refresh processes across multiple data sources
- Ensure high-quality code delivery, including testing and validation activities
- Monitor project progress and communicate updates to project stakeholders
- Support production deployments and oversee rollout activities
- Train and guide end users on reporting tools, queries, and best practices
- Identify opportunities to improve BI development processes and methodologies
- Troubleshoot and resolve database and reporting issues
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in SQL Server development
- Strong experience with:
- SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
- SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- SQL Server (T-SQL)
- Experience building data cubes (OLAP / multidimensional models)
- Knowledge of data warehousing and data modeling concepts
- Experience with Power Platform / Power BI
- Familiarity with SDLC methodologies
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) or ETL processes
- Familiarity with domain-specific data systems (e.g., education or public sector data)
- Understanding of project management methodologies (Agile/Waterfall/Hybrid)
