Responsibilities
Assist lead painters with surface preparation including sanding, scraping, and cleaning surfaces prior to painting or finishing. Handle hand tools such as brushes, rollers, scrapers, and putty knives with precision and care. Support the application of various paint types using airless paint spraying equipment and other power tools. Prepare work areas by masking, caulking gaps, installing fixtures, and setting up scaffolding or ladders for elevated work. Participate in the installation of trim carpentry, stucco finishes, masonry work, or drywall repairs as needed. Read blueprints or schematics to understand project specifications and ensure accurate execution of tasks. Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and disposing of debris safely throughout the project lifecycle.
Experience
Previous experience in construction painting or related trades such as renovation, restoration, or commercial painting is highly desirable. Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in construction sites including caulking guns, sanders, drills, and welding equipment. Knowledge of surface preparation techniques like plastering, concrete finishing, masonry work, and framing carpentry. Understanding of color theory for accurate color matching and aesthetic consistency across projects. Experience reading blueprints or schematics to interpret project plans effectively. Hands-on experience with industrial painting processes or airless paint spraying is a plus. Strong basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to project specifications.
