Director Of Memory Care Position Summary
Responsible for the overall management and oversight of residents living within the Memory Care neighborhood(s). Accountable for dementia care programming, ensuring excellence in resident care, providing consistent outreach and support to families, and maintaining high levels of resident and family satisfaction.
Qualification Requirements
Previous dementia education and experience required. Exhibits a caring and compassionate attitude while articulating true concern for the residents. Creativity and quality teamwork skills are a must. Computer proficiency with basic office programs and internet planning programs. Must be flexible and able to work weekends. Must meet all health regulations, including TB test (where required), and pass background checks.
Physical Requirements
Requires the ability to exert up to 40 lbs of force occasionally and/or occasionally lift, carry, push or move objects, including the human body. Walking, standing, bending, stooping, and squatting are required frequently.

- Provide leadership and oversight of all day-to-day operations within the Memory Care neighborhood, ensuring seamless delivery of care and engagement across a 24-hour environment.
- Uphold teams to consistently meet or exceed established policies, procedures, regulatory practices, and all state and federal requirements.
- Lead, coach, and supervise Memory Care staff to ensure excellence in resident care, meaningful engagement, and overall quality of life.
- Maintain deep knowledge of each resident, ensuring individualized care, engagement, and environmental needs are consistently anticipated and met.
- Ensure all team members are fully informed of resident needs and individual service plans and are trained in best practices in dementia care.
- Partner with administration to support the development and implementation of departmental policies and operational standards.
- Remain current on advancements and best practices in dementia care through ongoing education, training, and professional development.
- Collaborate with the Director of Life Enrichment to design and deliver elevated, purposeful monthly programming that supports whole-person wellness.
- Serve as a trusted liaison for families and works in partnership with the Health & Wellness team to ensure clear communication, alignment, and responsiveness to resident needs and concerns.
- Drive a culture of excellence that results in high levels of resident and family satisfaction within Memory Care.
- Support community growth by partnering with the marketing team during tours, delivering a warm, professional experience for prospective residents and families.
- Actively participate in key community meetings, including daily stand-up, one-to-one meetings with the Executive Director, family care meetings, Resident Council, Family Council (as requested), and regional and corporate visits.
- Ensure safe and compliant medication practices by overseeing certified staff administration; administers medications when certified and required and supports medication compliance audits.
- Work in close partnership with the Director of Health & Wellness to support clinical operations, including oversight of ADL documentation and transitions within the Memory Care neighborhood.
- Conduct daily rounds to ensure safety and quality control measures are maintained.
- Participate in the assessment and onboarding process for new Memory Care residents to ensure a smooth and supportive transition.
- Support Memory Care occupancy and retention by contributing to referrals, tours, move-in readiness and a strong first 30-day experience of new residents while proactively addressing family concerns in accordance with Bloom standards.
- Represent Memory Care leadership during after-hours events and community functions as needed.
- Participate in the rotating weekend Manager on Duty schedule.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support the success of the community.
- Minimum of two (2) years supervisory/management in memory care or assisted living environments.
- Current certifications for CPR, First Aid & Medication Administration (as required).
- Professional Dementia care training and experience required.
