Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Director to lead engaging and meaningful programs within our senior living community. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activity calendar that caters to residents’ interests, abilities, and health needs, including memory care and dementia-specific programs
- Coordinate special events, outings, and therapeutic activities that promote socialization, cognitive engagement, and physical activity
- Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, families, and external vendors to ensure activities align with individual care plans and preferences
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) when needed to foster participation and comfort
- Manage scheduling for activities staff and volunteers to ensure consistent program delivery
- Maintain detailed records of resident participation, progress notes, and activity outcomes for care planning purposes
Requirements
- Proven experience in event planning within assisted living or nursing home settings; experience in long-term or home & community care is highly desirable
- Strong background in senior care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, dementia care, or related fields with a focus on aging issues counseling and caregiving
- Knowledge of recreational therapy techniques and working with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, staff, and community partners
- Ability to assist residents with ADLs such as dressing, grooming, or mobility during activities to promote independence
- Skilled in schedule management to coordinate multiple programs simultaneously while maintaining flexibility for residents’ changing needs
- Compassionate approach with a passion for improving seniors’ quality of life through engaging activities
