Morning Pointe also prioritizes resident wellness, offering an active social calendar, intergenerational programs, and amenities such as housekeeping, transportation, and 24-hour emergency response systems. The property management division is Senior Care Associates (SCA).
Corporate Structure
The Staff Accountant is to be part of a group of corporate associates. SCA's Staff Accountant, along with other corporate staff is to work in conjunction to establish a:

The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Director of Accounting.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Staff Accountant located in Cambridge Square, Ooltewah, TN. The Staff Accountant will ensure consistent and quality accounting support services in accordance with SCA/Morning Pointe mission statement with an emphasis on maintaining the orderly functioning of accounting and finance support services. Implement current procedures and applicable standards and regulations which promote accounting and finance best practices.
Education & Experience
- 3-5 Years Accounting Experience
- Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to the completion of a bachelor’s degree in advanced accounting, finance, business administration, or similar field and increasingly responsible professional experience in accounting or business management
- Superior Interpersonal skills
Specific Requirements
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office application as required.
- Ability to analyze and interpret fiscal and accounting records, and prepare clear and concise financial and administrative reports.
- Knowledgeable in accounting principles.
- Understand federal, state, county and local laws, codes and regulations applicable to accounting and financial administration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for financial reporting and audits
- Proficient in accounting software and tools, with knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other related applications. We use Yardi Voyager as our cloud-based property management accounting software.
- Principles and practices of accounting and financial administration.
- Understand computerized financial systems.
- Perform modern office procedures and practices, including record keeping and data security methods and techniques.
- Knowledge of principles of proper English sentence structure, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Morning Pointe communities.
- Exercise independent initiative and judgment.
- Perform arithmetical computations quickly and accurately.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
- Maintain accounts receivable through billing monitoring, bank deposit confirmations and posting transactions, ACH administration, refund processing and approval, and discount processing.
- Support timely monthly and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all operational management accounts.
- Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Assists in providing schedules and commentary with respects to operating maintenance accounts results and variances, and with the production of working capital, cash-flow reports, as well as applicable commentary including a weekly cash flow report.
- Contribute to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections including: establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
- Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; inputting rate increases in Yardi.
- Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
- Maintain documentation for accounts payable, purchasing, and treasury and conducting internal audit on invoices, coding, approvals, and timely payment. Also audit community VISA, personal expense reports/check requests, and referral agency invoices to ensure correctness and adherence to policy.
- Process manual payroll checks
- Audit and complete 1099 & 1096 processes
- Monitor vendor statement, complete vendor credit applications, and support vendors as needed.
- Meet processing and reporting deadlines.
- Respond to information requests, review financial statements, and assist with audits.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP.
· Training and support for community Business Office Manager/Director (BOM/BOD) and Executive Directors (ED)
· Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
· Facility yearly license renewal
· General YARDI management
· Other duties as assigned
