Position Summary
The QA Supervisor directs QA Leads to ensure daily operational goals are met. This role manages the development, application, and maintenance of the food safety and quality training program. While the Manager handles long-term strategy, the Supervisor ensures consistent execution and mid-range planning (up to 6 months).
Core Competencies & Baseline Responsibilities
- · Leadership: Directs Frontline Leads; addresses personnel issues immediately; delivers clear shift briefings and Pass-On reporting.
- · Planning: Adjusts labor assignments on the fly; oversees start-ups and sanitation to minimize downtime; maintains output and quality records.
- · Decision Making: Takes ownership of shift KPIs; authorized to pause operations for safety/quality concerns; implements practical workarounds for bottlenecks.
- · Compliance: Enforces FSMA, HACCP, SQF, and GMP standards; conducts floor audits to correct hazards immediately.
Tier I: Supervisor I (Junior)
Primary Focus: Floor Supervision & SOPs
Strategy
- Ensures Leads follow work instructions; manages shift paperwork.
Training
- Assigns daily training tasks; monitors project progress.
Compliance
- Ensures SQF/FDA standards are followed by the shift.
Experience
- 0–2 years of leadership.
Tier II: Supervisor II (Proficient)
Strategy
- dentifies trends in waste/complaints; suggests process fixes.
Training
- Evaluates the success of training; revises training program content
Compliance
- Analyzes non-compliance/complaint trends; develops plans.
Experience
- 2–4 years of supervision.
Tier III: Supervisor III (Senior)
Primary Focus: Mid-Range Planning & Support
Strategy
- Assists Manager with 1–6 month planning (training roadmaps).
Training
- Oversees total training program; acts acting manager.
Compliance
- Technical leader for new product lines and methodology changes.
Experience
- 4 years of QA supervision.
Skills & Qualifications
- · Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Food Science, or related field (highly preferred), or 4-8 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Control with Food Industry or Food Safety Leadership, or a combination of both.
- · Expertise: Extensive knowledge of HACCP, FDA, and SQF/GFSI requirements and regulatory audits.
- · Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat; ability to analyze non-compliance data and consumer complaint trends.
- Mindset: Problem-solving oriented; highly resourceful team player with the ability to maintain high ethical standards.
