What are the responsibilities and job description for the SPED Teacher position at Morgans Healthcare?
Functional Support Class at WES. Currently, there are ten students assigned to this class. There are expected to be three instructional assistants in this class, in addition to the lead teacher. Many students are working on daily living skills, behaviors, and communication.
Morgans Healthcare is a New York-based staffing agency that specializes in placing healthcare and education professionals into temporary travel and local contracts across the United States.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid South Carolina teaching certification in Special Education or eligibility for certification.
- Multi-Categorical Intellectual Disabilities Severe Disabilities EMD*, TMD
- Learning Disabilities certification will be considered on a case-by-case basis
Experience:
- Previous experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and engage in problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of students with developmental disabilities.
- Manage classroom behavior and create a supportive learning environment.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and specialists to enhance student learning.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in literacy and math.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and behavior.
