Position Overview
The Earl G. Graves School of Business and Management at Morgan State University is seeking an experienced, results-driven Adjunct Cybersecurity Instructor to join the Cyber Warrior Diversity Program—a workforce-development initiative that prepares students from underrepresented backgrounds for high-demand careers in cybersecurity.
This is a hands-on teaching role with a single, clear mission: get students certified. The program's
central measure of success is student certification attainment, and we are looking for an instructor with a
demonstrated ability to prepare students to pass CompTIA certification exams at a rate of 80% or higher. If you take pride in your students; exam outcomes and have the track record to prove it, we want to hear from you.
The ideal candidate holds at least two of the relevant CompTIA certifications (A , Network , Security ) and is willing to earn the remaining certification within six months of hire. This is a part-time, on-site position based in Baltimore, MD, and may include one evening class.
Key Responsibilities
● Prepare students to pass CompTIA certification exams, with a program target of an 80% or higher pass rate.
● Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction across CompTIA A , Network , and Security domains—including network defense, ethical hacking, threat detection, and security operations.
● Design, develop, and continually update lesson plans, labs, assessments, and course materials in Canvas or the CompTIA instructional platform.
● Monitor individual student progress, identify students at risk of not certifying, and provide targeted support and remediation.
● Stay current with evolving threats, tools, and industry trends, and bring them into the classroom.
Teaching Load
● 8 to 10 hours of in-person instruction per week, across two of the three subject areas (A , Network , Security ), meeting four days per week.
● Standard daytime sections meet four days per week for 2 hours per class (8 hours/week total).
● If the adjunct is assigned an evening class, that section will meet four days per week from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM (8 hours/week total) or 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM (10 hours/week total).
Qualifications /Required
● Master degree.
● At least two current CompTIA certifications among A , Network , and Security , with a commitment to earn the third within six months of hire (exam and licensing fees covered by the program).
● Minimum of two years of teaching experience in courses covering CompTIA A , Network , or Security .
● A demonstrated track record of preparing students to pass CompTIA certification exams. Please be prepared to speak to your students' pass rates.
● Experience teaching in Canvas and/or the CompTIA instructional platform.
● Excellent communication and classroom-management skills.
● Ability to commute daily to the School's Baltimore campus and teach on-site, including evenings.
Preferred
● All three certifications: A , Network , and Security .
● Documented student certification pass rates at or above 80%.
● Experience working with diverse, adult, and/or workforce-development student populations.
Compensation & Benefits
● Wages: $10,800 per course meeting four (4) days a week for sixteen (16) weeks.
● Certification Support: CompTIA exam and licensing fees covered by the Cyber Warrior Diversity Program.
