Department Profile

Global Financial Crimes (GFC) coordinates and oversees implementation of the Firm's enterprise-wide financial crime prevention efforts. GFC includes several legal and compliance disciplines and has responsibility for governance, oversight and execution of the Firm's Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, Anti-Corruption and Government and Political Activities Compliance programs. GFC also develops and/or assists in the development of appropriate policies and procedures, including those designed to assist the business units to know their clients and conduct appropriate due diligence and to prevent, detect and report potentially suspicious activity. GFC has dedicated coverage managers and teams of analysts who advise and counsel each business unit regarding its AML, economic sanctions and anti-corruption obligations and its particular clients and transactions.

Role Profile

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to support GFC's Governance function, which reports to the COO. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the firm meets its regulatory obligations and mitigates risk to the firm via strong governance frameworks, policy oversight, and risk reporting.

Specific Responsibilities Include

  • Design, maintain, and enhance global financial crimes governance structures, including committees and escalation protocols
  • Coordinate cross-functional governance forums pertaining to global financial crimes
  • Oversee the global framework for GFC policies, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and industry best practices
  • Develop and manage global financial crime reporting to senior management and the Board, including KRIs and KPIs
  • Collaborate across the first and second lines of defense to to promote effective governance of financial crime risk management
  • Ensure matters of interest are escalated to GFC leadership and/or other firm management as necessary
  • Develop and maintain playbooks, guidance, and process documentation for exam readiness and stakeholder engagement
  • Drive continuous improvement of exam management processes (e.g., document production)
  • Monitor regulatory trends and expectations to proactively identify areas of potential interest to ensure preparedness and support strategic planning

The Ideal Candidate Possesses

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent military experience
  • 6 years of experience in a BSA/AML, Sanctions, or Anti-Bribery/Corruption role within or supporting the financial services industry
  • Prior experience with governance programs and initiatives
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively through all levels of the organization
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and independent operator with the ability and maturity to make decisions and operate in fast paced and dynamic settings
  • Strong Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills, and an interest in and willingness to learn new technology applications

Where You'll be Working

This role will require in office attendance 4 days/week. Two of those days will be Anchor Days where you will be in the office with your teammates to learn, grow, and collaborate in person.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 120000 and 205000 per year at the commencement of employment.However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.

Salary : $120,000 - $205,000
