This position is based at KVEW-TV in Kennewick, Washington, located in the Tri-Cities area.
What You’ll Do
- Produce, write, and coordinate daily newscasts from concept to execution
- Make timely editorial decisions based on daily content, breaking news, and developing coverage
- Write and edit scripts, teases, and copy with strong accuracy and clarity
- Collaborate with anchors, reporters, and the newsroom to optimize story presentation
- Coordinate elements and timing with directors and newsroom staff to ensure clean execution
- Use social media and digital platforms to publish content and generate story ideas
- Conduct research and build informative segments that serve our target audiences on all platforms
- Perform other duties as assigned by the News Director
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong broadcast writing skills (AP style preferred) and solid news judgment
- Prior leadership or producing experience in a newsroom environment
- Self-motivation, strong organization, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and adapt in a high-pressure, deadline-driven setting
- Familiarity with Inception (preferred but not required)
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere (preferred but not required)
