Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Certified Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, patient intake, and assisting with examinations in various specialties including dermatology, emergency medicine, and hospital medicine.
- Prepare patients for procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort while maintaining a professional and compassionate demeanor.
- Collect specimens for laboratory testing, perform phlebotomy, and assist with X-ray procedures when required.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), document medical histories accurately, and update patient records following HIPAA guidelines.
- Support medication administration under supervision, including understanding pharmacology basics and managing medication documentation.
- Assist with hospital-based activities such as inpatient care, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), trauma centers, and surgical settings like the OR (Operating Room).
- Coordinate patient flow through appointment scheduling, insurance verification, ICD coding for diagnoses, and managing medical records efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to safety protocols for infection control and patient safety.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in outpatient clinics or hospital settings with exposure to dermatology, internal medicine, or emergency medicine preferred.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, ICD coding, and medical documentation standards.
- Inpatient experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with phlebotomy techniques, medication administration procedures, X-ray assistance, and vital signs monitoring.
- Prior work in fast-paced environments such as urgent care centers or hospital emergency departments is advantageous.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications related to medical assisting or specialized areas like geriatrics or surgical assisting are a plus.
