Minimum Qualifications:
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) or equivalent from an accredited certifying body such as ASCP or AMT.
- Valid state licensure if required by the state of employment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory procedures, instrumentation, and quality control standards.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic medical records (EMR).
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams
- Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids using automated and manual techniques.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure accurate test results.
- Adhere to established protocols and quality control procedures to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies such as CLIA and CAP.
- Document and report test results accurately and promptly to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment by following safety guidelines and infection control procedures.
- Provide support and coverage during peak periods, staff absences, or emergencies as part of the PRN staffing model.
