Role Description This is a contract Project Engineer role based in Redmond, WA, with a hybrid work arrangement that combines on-site presence with the flexibility to work from home as business needs allow. The Project Engineer will support HVAC projects from concept through completion, including reviewing drawings, specifications, and scope, and assisting with design coordination and constructability reviews. Daily responsibilities include creating and updating project schedules, tracking deliverables, coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders, and preparing technical submittals and RFIs. The role also involves supporting field teams with engineering clarifications, assisting in resolving technical issues, and helping ensure that installations meet performance, quality, and safety standards. The Project Engineer will contribute to cost tracking, procurement, payment applications, schedule of values, documentation control, and continuous improvement of project processes.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, trade partners, and clients, and to present technical information clearly in writing and in meetings.
- Experience in project management and project planning, including scheduling, task tracking, coordination of resources, and risk mitigation on construction or engineering projects.
- Applied project engineering experience, preferably in HVAC, building systems, or mechanical construction, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Background in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline, with working knowledge of building systems, controls, and relevant codes or standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, or related field) or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency with project management and productivity tools (e.g., MS Project or similar scheduling software, Excel, and PDF markup tools); familiarity with BIM/Revit and AutoCAD is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and solve problems in a fast-paced project environment.
- Understanding of construction safety practices and quality control principles; prior experience on HVAC or MEP projects is preferred.
