Supreme Court Litigation Associate Attorney

Salary: $130,000 – $150,000
SUPREME COURT LITIGATION EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Morgan Legal Group, P.C. is seeking a Supreme Court Litigation Associate Attorney with 2–3 years of hands-on New York Supreme Court litigation experience to join our New York City office.
Matrimonial and divorce litigation experience is a MUST for this position. The ideal candidate is an attorney who is comfortable appearing in New York Supreme Court, handling active litigation matters, communicating directly with clients and opposing counsel, and managing cases independently.
This is not an entry-level position and is not intended for an attorney looking to transition into Supreme Court litigation or matrimonial law. Candidates should have actual experience handling matrimonial/divorce matters in New York Supreme Court.
Responsibilities
- Independently handle matrimonial and divorce litigation matters in New York Supreme Court
- Make regular appearances for conferences, hearings, motions, compliance conferences, and other court proceedings
- Manage cases from commencement through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, orders, stipulations, settlement agreements, and other legal documents
- Handle discovery, including financial discovery and document review
- Address issues involving equitable distribution, maintenance, child support, custody, and other matrimonial matters
- Conduct legal research and prepare motions and litigation memoranda
- Negotiate settlements and participate in settlement conferences and mediations
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and the Court
- Develop case strategy and provide clients with legal advice
- Monitor deadlines, court appearances, filings, and case status
- Maintain an organized caseload and move matters forward efficiently
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active New York State Bar admission required
- 2–3 years of New York Supreme Court litigation experience
- Matrimonial and divorce litigation experience is required
- Demonstrated experience appearing independently in New York Supreme Court
- Strong courtroom presence and litigation skills
- Experience handling matrimonial matters from commencement through resolution
- Strong legal writing, research, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to independently manage multiple active litigation matters
- Strong client communication and case-management skills
- Ability to meet court deadlines and manage a demanding litigation caseload
