We're Hiring: Senior Director, Professional Relations & KOL Development
A leading company in the ophthalmic disease space is looking for a Senior Director to lead our physician engagement and Key Opinion Leader (KOL) strategy across the ophthalmology and optometry markets.
The Role
You'll be the architect of our external professional network — building trusted relationships with leading ophthalmologists, optometrists, academic institutions, and professional societies to drive clinical adoption, innovation, and market leadership. This is a high-impact role combining strategic vision, clinical credibility, and operational excellence.
What You'll Do
- Develop and execute our enterprise-wide KOL engagement strategy across ophthalmology, optometry, cornea, cataract, refractive, and oculoplastic specialties
- Identify, cultivate, and grow relationships with national, regional, and emerging thought leaders
- Lead advisory boards, speaker bureaus, faculty programs, and physician ambassador initiatives
- Build and expand our Centers of Excellence and clinical partnership strategy
- Support publication planning, scientific exchange, and peer-to-peer education
- Partner cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Professional Education, and Sales Leadership
What We're Looking For
- 12 years of progressive leadership in pharma, biotech, medical device, or ophthalmology
- 5 years leading Professional Relations, KOL Development, Medical Education, or related customer-facing functions
- Deep knowledge of the ophthalmic marketplace and its key stakeholders
- Proven success building KOL networks, advisory boards, speaker programs, and Centers of Excellence
- Exceptional executive presence and relationship-building skills
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced/clinical degree preferred
Preferred
An established network of ophthalmology/optometry thought leaders, experience in cornea or ocular surface disease markets, and a track record of building scalable physician advocacy programs.
