Typical duties include:
Under the direction of a certificated teacher, delivers instruction to individuals or groups of students placed in special education programs because of special needs; monitors and reports student progress regarding behavior and performance; performs a variety of clerical, instructional duties, and functional support within the instructional program as required by the disabling/limiting condition of the student and according to established Individual Education Plans (IEPs). This job class requires a high degree of positive contact with students and staff.
PARAPROFESSIONAL
6 HOURS/DAY
195 DAYS/YEAR
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• Training and experience working with special needs students is desirable
• Candidates must satisfy one of the following requirements:
o Complete two (2) years of higher education study (minimum 48 units) or
o Obtain an AA degree or
o Obtain a passing score on Morgan Hill Unified School District Paraprofessional Test
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• May require a valid California Driver’s License
• May require pre-employment physical examination
