MTSS Coordinator (Change from currently funded/open MTSS Interventionist)


Purpose
: An MTSS Coordinator is a certified staff member who practices under the close, ongoing supervision of school administration and in leads the school’s CARE team, which includes the SEL Coach, school counselor, nurse, social worker, principal, and Communities in Schools representative.

 

Reports to: Principal

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with the ability to become certified
  • Experience in the educational setting preferred
  • Experience working with at-risk students preferred

 

Funding: Title I, indicated in approved plan for 2022-23. Continuation of MTSS, but with a stronger leadership focus and centralized documentation and organization/implementation of services (hence, moving from Interventionist to Coordinator).

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The MTSS Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, documentation, and co-implementation of services and support for at-risk students, families, and the staff who serve them. The MTSS Coordinator designs or co-designs intervention plans with members of the CARE team and organizes all data to communicate trends and needs schoolwide. The MTSS Coordinator advises administration on research-based practices, as well as the availability of resources for students and families. The candidate works closely with Exceptional Children’s teachers to ensure that the support process is effective and efficient when students need support. A strong connection to the community and/or knowledge of community services is helpful, but not required. Connections with the community can offer larger-scale and more systematic supports (tutoring, reading or math buddies, etc.). This person also carries out the vision and mission of the school and works to ensure that all students are cared for individually and have academic and socio-emotional needs met, giving them the best opportunity for success.

 

Specific tasks and skills:

  • Guide implementation of core instructional programs focused on social emotional development, behavioral expectations, bullying prevention, and school safety.
  • Develop SEL and academic intervention plans and assist with implementation consistent with student needs, strengths, and socioemotional factors.
  • Use a variety of appropriate formal and informal tools and techniques including functional behavior assessments, observations, and interviews to evaluate the needs and track progress and performance of students.
  • Liaise with CARE team members (counselor, social worker, SEL coach, nurse, and Communities in Schools) to coordinate and document services, communication, and support to students and families.
  • Provide goal-setting opportunities in response to identified needs such as academics, attendance, diversity, mental health, behavior management, crisis intervention, homelessness, child abuse, and neglect, peer or family issues, or other relevant topics.
  • Provide input for program planning and evaluation and contribute to the development of departmental and system-wide policies.
  • Maintain an advocacy role to assure that the student’s education, social, emotional and material needs are met in accordance with established laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Organize time, resources, and workload in order to meet responsibilities and maintain accurate plans, case records, and documentation.
  • Work with team members to ensure precise documentation and data analysis for trends in student support.
  • Communicate with staff and motivate colleagues to embrace change.
  • Participate in the MTSS student problem solving teams.
  • Show evidence of professional growth and development.
  • Adhere to ethical, professional, and legal standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Exemplify growth mindset and belief that all children can succeed and deserve success.

Term of Employment: 10-month employment

 

 

Salary : $41,000 - $55,950
