We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surgical Scheduler to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Schedule surgical procedures accurately using our EMR system to ensure all necessary documentation is complete.
- Confirm patient eligibility and insurance coverage by reviewing health insurance information and verifying Medicare or other payer requirements.
- Coordinate with physicians and other clinical staff to determine appropriate scheduling times and resource availability.
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies prior to surgery.
- Communicate clearly with patients via phone or in person regarding pre-operative instructions, appointment details, and post-operative care plans.
- Maintain detailed records of appointments, cancellations, reschedules, and procedural notes within electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Obtain Prior Authorizations
- Assist with medical billing processes by understanding CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards, and insurance claim submissions related to surgical procedures.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical administrative support or medical office within a clinical or surgical setting.
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems; familiarity with electronic health records management is essential.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of health insurance policies including Medicare and private payers; experience with medical billing and coding (CPT, ICD-10/ICD-9) is highly desirable.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone etiquette and patient interactions.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Prior clinic experience or dental clinic experience is advantageous for understanding clinical workflows.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA standards while managing sensitive patient information.
