POSITION TITLE: FACILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN/EQUIPMENT MECHANIC
REPORTS TO: FOREMAN OF GROUNDS AND FACILITIES DIRECTOR
POSITION SUMMARY: Work with the Foreman of Grounds and Facilities Director as well as other staff in all areas of maintenance and repair related to facilities and grounds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintenance and minor repair of Facility Department vehicles and equipment.
- Major repairs, trouble shooting, and gas and diesel engine R & R.
- Operate and care for small and large equipment used in maintenance of facilities and grounds.
- Perform welding, soldering, and brazing.
- Move furniture and equipment as needed.
- Perform snow removal as needed.
- Rotating and emergency on-call service and responsibility required.
- Practice safety and promote safety awareness with other employees.
- Perform such other duties as directed or required by the Facilities Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Demonstrates effective English communication in both oral and written form.
- Demonstrate initiative, organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Knowledge of welding, soldering and brazing essential.
- Knowledge of gas and diesel engines essential.
- Trouble shooting skills essential.
- Demonstrates basic computer skills.
- Verbal communication skills with ability to interact with staff.
- Hold or be eligible for a valid Colorado driver’s license.
- Pass a background check, including CBI fingerprinting.
- Able to life a minimum of 100 pounds, bend, squat, kneel and twist.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous grounds and/or facility maintenance experience.
- Previous experience as a gas and diesel mechanic.
- Experience in the safe handling and use of relevant power tools, weld/soldering equipment, etc.
- Willingness to learn and apply new and/or adaptive skills essential to the position.
- Such other alternatives as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
SALARY, BENEFITS & HOURS:
- Rate is negotiable dependent on experience.

- All tools for this job are supplied by the employer.
- Normal work hours are from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
