The Assistant Wresting Coach supports the head coach in developing a competitive, positive, and growth-oriented volleyball program. Key Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and leading practices that focus on skill development, strategy, and team culture
Provide guidance and mentorship to student-athletes in line with school and district values
Help manage game-day operations
Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful team environment
Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school staff
Support academic accountability and monitor student-athlete eligibility
Uphold and enforce all CHSAA, school, and district policies
Attend all practices, games, and required coaching meetings
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of wrestling rules, techniques, and coaching strategies
Prior coaching or playing experience preferred
Ability to build positive relationships with middle school students
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Completion of CHSAA required certifications and background check

Job Summary:
The Assistant Middle School Girls Wrestling Coach will assist the head coach in all aspects of the girls' wrestling program, focusing on developing athletes’ skills, strength, and sportsmanship. This role includes supporting practices, traveling with the team to competitions, and helping to foster a positive, inclusive environment that promotes personal growth and athletic excellence. The assistant coach will work in alignment with Fort Morgan Middle School’s athletic philosophy and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Practice Support and Execution: Aid in planning and conducting daily practices, emphasizing wrestling techniques, conditioning, and strength training.
- Athlete Skill Development: Provide one-on-one and small-group instruction to help athletes improve wrestling techniques, including takedowns, defense, escapes, and pins.
- Competition Preparation and Support: Assist with event preparation, travel arrangements, and management during tournaments and dual meets, including warm-ups, strategy discussions, and sideline coaching.
- Encourage Sportsmanship and Discipline: Model and reinforce positive behavior, team cohesion, and respect among athletes, both on and off the mat.
- Safety and Welfare of Student-Athletes: Ensure all practices and matches are conducted safely, with attention to injury prevention; collaborate with athletic trainers and staff in handling minor injuries.
- Communication: Maintain open, constructive communication with athletes, parents, the head coach, and the athletic department.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; prior wrestling experience (as a wrestler or coach) is highly preferred, particularly in a high school or competitive setting.
- Coaching Knowledge: Familiarity with wrestling techniques, rules, and strategies, along with a commitment to adhering to safety standards.
- Leadership and Motivation Skills: Ability to inspire and encourage student-athletes to reach their full potential.
- Interpersonal Skills: Works collaboratively with the head coach, athletes, and other school staff, maintaining positive relationships and a supportive team environment.
