Pay Scale: Certified Salary Schedule
Qualifications: Candidates must have or be eligible for a clear, renewable certification in School Counseling issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. Experience working as a primary and elementary school counselor/teacher is preferred.
SUMMARY: Provide professional guidance and counseling services to students, parents, or guardians related to education, career, and life development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement and promote the school guidance and counseling program
- Collaborate with school staff to support instructional classroom activities that relate to students’ educational, career, and/or personal needs
- Conduct group counseling in areas of student need and/or interest
- Facilitate the delivery of counseling services individually to students in need
- Assist with preparing students for standardized testing and interpreting test results
- Ensure that students receive appropriate assistance in career/life development choices
- Consult with school or system staff and parents on student problems and concerns
- Facilitate school-to-home communication by holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications
- Utilize community resources to assist students and parents
- Assist as needed during crises
- Maintain the confidentiality of students and student records
- Participate in professional development activities and apply the newly acquired professional knowledge
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
