What You'll Do:
- Codes, classifies, catalogues, receives, checks out, and shelves library materials.
- Converts written material to computerized library system.
- Monitors circulation of library materials and delivers and retrieves library materials.
- Performs library material inventory, and reconciles discrepancies.
- Explains basic use of library facilities, resources, equipment, and services and provides library resource location, data search, and service assistance to students and teachers.
- Assists individuals and small student groups locate library resources and materials.
- Monitors students at assigned site and reinforces positive student behaviors, enforcing administration policies and rules governing students.
- Discusses and coordinates instructional efforts with teachers and library staff.
- Coordinates the classification, indexing, shelving and circulation of books, periodicals, audio-visual and multi-media information.
What You’ll Need:
- Must have a High School diploma/GED is required plus one of the following: Proof of passing the TABE D Adult Education Test for Reading and Math; minimum SAT scores (within the last 5 years) of 500 in Math and 470 in Reading; or transcript(s) verifying at least 48 semester hours of undergraduate coursework from an accredited college or university.
- An Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university satisfies minimum requirements above (Note: All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.)
- Two (2) or more years of library related experience preferred.
- Previous budgeting and related reporting experience preferred.
- Knowledge with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills, including ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.
- The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance.
- Work collaboratively with others on a team.
- Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Library Sciences.
- Ability to coordinate and work effectively with site staff and diverse student population.
- Ability to plan and organize work, at times with interruptions.
- Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
