Job Summary

Preferred Experience: • Experience directing show-style marching bands using traditional high-step techniques, instrument swings, and high-energy visual movements. • Experience teaching brass-focused ensembles and show-style percussion sections featuring syncopated cadences, sling drums, and distinct cymbal routines. • Experience coordinating full field performances that integrate dance breakdowns, flag teams, majorettes, and choreographed dance lines. • Ability to write or adapt custom musical arrangements of contemporary pop, R&B, and soul music tailored for a show-style brass and percussion section. • Experience leading choral ensembles with expertise in diverse vocal traditions, including classical repertoire, African American spirituals, gospel, and contemporary vocal music. • Ability to cultivate vocal versatility, powerful tone production, and engaging performance presence in a high school choir. • Knowledge of the cultural heritage, discipline, and pageantry traditions central to HBCU-style band and choral programs.
