Night Custodian-1 position Floater position

Typical work hours are 2:00 p.m.—10:00 p.m Monday-Friday

Examples of some Essential Duties:

• Perform routine custodial activities at an assigned school site or facility; sweep, scrub, mop, strip, wax and polish floors; vacuum rugs and carpets in offices, classrooms, offices, workshops and other work areas; spot clean and shampoo carpets.
• Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, carpet extractors, pressure washers, blowers, small hand and power tools, buffer/scrubber machines and other equipment as assigned; operate a two-way radio.

Other Duties:

• Perform related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Any combination of experience and training equivalent to the completion of high school graduation with some experience as a custodian preferred.

Knowledge of:

Basic methods, materials, tools and equipment used in custodial work.

Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.

Ability to:

Perform routine custodial activities at an assigned school site or facility to maintain buildings and adjacent grounds areas in a clean, orderly and secure condition.

Physical Demands:

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of custodial equipment.

Walking or standing for extended periods of time.

Seeing to perform custodial duties.

Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling moderately heavy objects up to 50 lbs. and moving up to 100 lbs. using a dolly or hand truck as assigned by position.

Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching.

Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally.

Climbing ladders and working from heights to replace light bulbs.

Hearing sufficient to hear normal conversation and sounds from machines and equipment.

Speech sufficient to speak in an understandable voice.

Hazards:

Exposure to cleaning agents and chemicals.

Working on ladders.
