Position Summary

The Project Director will assist with leading community engagement with the Undiagnosed Diseases Network. They will be responsible for the overall project management, coordination of community engagement activities across UDN clinical, affiliate, and partnership sites. They will work closely with local staff, community stakeholders, health systems representatives, and the UDN Data Management Coordinating Center team. The Project Director will be responsible for planning and coordinating all operational facets of the community engagement coordination within the UDN , programmatically and administratively. As such the ideal candidate will be adept at project management, community engagement, and effectively managing staff and fiscal resources.

The Project Director will need to be a self-starter, to ensure that all activities proposed are best fit to address the local needs and demands stipulated in the grant application. Responsibilities include training, providing technical assistance, staff supervision and management, review, coordination, and expansion of community engagement activities with UDN clinical, affiliate, and partnership sites. In addition, she or he will also provide training, as needed, to self-selected sites and community partners; in addition to working with key community stakeholders ensuring sustainability of projects. The Project Director will provide guidance for coordination and engagement activities. The Project Director is responsible for completing the required reports and other required paperwork (monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, program summaries, etc.). In addition, the Project Director will be expected to lead community engagement data collection, data analyses, and publication of findings.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Minimum of eight (8) years related experience in community-engaged program coordination and project management is required.

Proven ability to adeptly manage multiple priorities and tasks.

Intermediate to advanced computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook are required, as well as familiarity with virtual tools to facilitate group communication and information exchange (e.g., ZOOM , Slack, MS Teams).

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively both internally and externally with a wide range of people including academic faculty, physicians, administrators, government agencies, AI / ML / IT / Data Science professionals, NGOs, and community members.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Public Health, and / or experience working in community / academic partnerships.

Minimum 5 years working experience in community-engaged research

Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.

Skilled in writing reports and dissemination of findings to both scientific and lay audiences.

Experienced in assisting organizations in monitoring programmatic development and implementation.

Experienced in engaging in the development of community prevention infrastructure by collaborating with community stakeholders and MOU development within communities.

Experienced and understands compliance with governmental agency funding standards.

Experience in providing collaboration on programs and projects, as appropriate, with other program staff, and community partners.

Experience in revitalizing strategies to meet a wide variety of challenges including those of capacity building and strategic planning.

Skilled in project management, community assessment, and implementing strategies that position communities to effectively participate in the research process.

Ability to understand complex research (qualitative / quantitative) and distill findings into clear, strategic insights.

Experience in performing data analyses and manuscript development.

Experience in completing and maintaining IRB approvals and other regulatory documents.

Adept at working with multiple stakeholders and facilitating change to support organizational objectives.

Ability to think creatively and provide innovative solutions to communication challenges / problems.

Experience providing technical and training to partners in micropolitan and rural communities

It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID -19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
