The Doula provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to birthing mothers and newborns (under 28 days old) during home visits. during home visits. The role focuses on maternal support, newborn care education, and connecting families to needed health and community resources and continues to follow families for up to one year postpartum.
Responsibilities:
- Provide emotional and practical support for mothers.
- Educate on newborn care, breastfeeding, safe sleep, and maternal recovery.
- Participate in scheduled home visits (max 1 hour each).
- Assist families with referrals and navigating healthcare/social services.
- Document visit notes and referrals within 24 hours.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year experience providing labor support, childbirth education, or related maternal care preferred.
- Certificate as a Birth Doula from a recognized organization (e.g., DONA International, CAPPA, ICEA, or equivalent.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to act as a bridge and educator between patients and their healthcare teams
- Strong customer or patient service skills
- Knowledge of maternal health issues in Georgia
- Ability to provide Culturally Based Communication and Care
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask
- Proficient in all Microsoft Applications, including MS Office and Excel
- Strong time management, organizational, and planning skills
