Maintenance Skilled Worker (Electrician)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicant shall be able–bodied and have sound health. The applicant must have skills in the work of the position and must be able to read, write, and follow written instructions. Applicant must prove competence on a performance test of job related skills. Applicant must hold a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record. Experience must have been acquired in major projects related to the skill area.  Candidates should have at least three (3) years’ experience as a certified electrician, documented satisfactory performance, and demonstrates a strong knowledge of maintenance techniques, materials, and equipment.

REPORTS TO: General Foreman or Supervisor/Administrator in Charge

EVALUATOR: General Foreman or Supervisor/Administrator in Charge

JOB SUMMARY: Maintain and repair the school system's buildings and grounds in an acceptabel manner to keep them in safe and efficient operating condition. 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

1. Will be required to work the same number of days as regular twelve month emplpoyees, 
    but will have different beginning and ending dates with flexibility for days off. 

2. Will be required to work on Mondays during the four-day work week in order to maximize
    use of workers while sutdents are not present. 

3. Will be allowed to schedule alternate off days as approved by the immediate Supervisor. 

4. Will be required to work two days per week during Thanksgiving, Christmas/New Years
   and Spring/Easter breaks as scheduled by the immediate Supervisor. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months      

COMPENSATION:  Level 2 Schedule 3

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Perform skilled tasks in accordance with state and local codes and the standard practices of the trade.
2. Accept responsibility for the quality and quantity or work produced. 
3. Promote high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in work areas. 
4. Perform all types of work assigned by the foreman. 
5. Assist in the preparation of job estimates and recommended purchase of necessary supplies. 
6. Perform other duties as assigned by higher authority.
