Job Summary:
The Manager, Patient Access is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the
hospital admissions and clinical patient access teams. This role ensures that all patient
access functions including registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and financial counseling are performed efficiently and in compliance with MGH policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. The Patient Access Manager will collaborate with department leadership to train and develop staff to provide exceptional patient service while optimizing revenue cycle performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management
- Oversee patient registration processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness of patient demographics, insurance, and financial information.
- Monitor and improve workflows to enhance efficiency and patient satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and hospital regulations, including HIPAA, EMTALA, and other relevant guidelines.
2. Revenue Cycle Optimization
- Collaborate with the billing and business office teams to minimize denials and ensure accurate claims submission.
- Implement strategies to improve time-of-service collections and reduce bad debt.
- Analyze key performance indicators and develop action plans to address areas of improvement.
3. Leadership and Development
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the performance of the admissions and clinical patient access teams.
- Develop and implement training programs for new and existing staff on registration systems, insurance verification, and customer service skills.
4. Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare and present reports on patient access metrics, including registration accuracy, wait times, and collections.
- Use data to identify trends, forecast needs, and make informed decisions to improve operations.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate degree or higher in Health Administration, Business Management, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in patient access, admissions or revenue cycle, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Working Conditions: Physician clinics and hospital setting with occasional evening,
overnight, or weekend hours as needed.

Pay: $60,000.00 per year
