Gate Fabricator / Installer - Welder, Concrete & Block Crew

More Than Gates
Albuquerque, NM Full Time
POSTED ON 9/22/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/19/2027

We build custom gates out of raw steel and install them at homes and commercial properties all over New Mexico. We cut, fit, weld and finish them in our Albuquerque shop, then go set the posts, pour the footings, lay the block, hang the leaf and wire the operator in the field. One company, start to finish - no subbing out the hard parts.

We are adding 3 to 5 people to the crew over the next 60 days. Whether you live behind a welding hood, can set a post plumb the first time, or know what a good pour looks like before it goes off - we want to talk to you.

WHAT YOU WOULD ACTUALLY BE DOING

Depending on your trade and where you level in:

- Shop fabrication - layout, cut, fit and MIG weld gate frames, pickets, hinges and posts out of square tube, angle and plate

- Grinding, prep and coating prep on finished assemblies

- Field install - post setting, forming and pouring footings, block and stem wall work, mortar and stucco patch

- Hanging gate leaves, setting hinges and drops, plumb-and-square adjustment on operators that have to run 20,000 cycles without a callback

- Pulling and terminating low-voltage for operators, keypads, intercoms and cameras - we train this, and it is the highest-value skill in the company

- Loading, staging and hauling material safely to and from job sites

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

- You show up. On time, every day, ready to work. This is the whole job interview.

- Valid New Mexico driver's license and a record clean enough to drive company trucks

- Able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly, work on your feet outdoors through Albuquerque summers and winters, and use ladders, hand tools and power tools safely - with or without reasonable accommodation

- Tape-measure math. You can read a print and work in sixteenths.

- 18 or older and authorized to work in the U.S.

NICE TO HAVE - THIS IS WHERE YOUR RATE LANDS

- MIG or stick welding experience - structural, ornamental or general fab

- Form-and-pour, block laying, mortar or stucco experience

- Fence, gate, garage door or overhead door install background

- Low-voltage, access control or electrical experience

- Concrete saw, skid steer, auger or trencher time

- Bilingual English / Spanish

- Any welding cert, OSHA 10 or 30, or trade school coursework

PAY, AND HOW YOU MOVE UP

$20-28 per hour, depending on experience and how many of these trades you bring through the door. Overtime available and paid. Company truck, tools and PPE for field crews.

We are building a five-level technician program - L1 through L5 - with a written skill checklist behind every level. You will know exactly what you have to be able to demonstrate to move to the next rate, instead of waiting around for somebody to notice you. We also train and document to UL 325 and ASTM F2200 gate safety standards, which means you learn to build gates that do not hurt people - and that is a credential you keep.

WHY THIS JOB AND NOT THE NEXT ONE ON THE LIST

Software is going to eat a lot of desk jobs over the next ten years. It is not going to weld a gate frame or set a footing in caliche. People who can put their hands and eyes on physical things, talk to a customer standing in their own driveway, and lead a crew are going to be worth more every year, not less.

And we are growing. We are not looking for a warm body to get us through this month. We are looking for people who want to still be here in five years running a crew of their own. If that is what you are after, say so in your application - we read them.

SCHEDULE

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM start out of our Albuquerque shop. Occasional Saturday on install-heavy weeks, paid as overtime.

HOW TO APPLY

Apply right here on Indeed. We answer fast - usually the same business day. Everyone who applies gets a short screening form with a few real questions about the work. Fill it out by the deadline and you are in the running. Miss the deadline and you are not, so keep an eye on your messages.
