What are the responsibilities and job description for the Personal Trainer - Independent Contractor (Established or Growing Client Base) position at More Than Fit?
About More Than Fit (MTF)
We are a coach-led strength and performance training gym serving adults and youth athletes. We’re building a premium, structured training environment with capped small-group sessions, performance development, and a strong community focus.
Opportunity
We’re looking for a serious, established independent personal trainer who wants a high-quality home base to train clients in Bucktown. This is ideal for a coach with an existing client roster who wants a clean space, strong culture, and an opportunity to grow alongside a new gym brand. That said, we would consider a trainer who may not be fully established, but brings the professionalism, character, and fit we’re looking for.
Who you are
- You have a consistent client base and want a long-term training home
- You coach professionally (movement quality, progressions, safe execution)
- You’re reliable, respectful, and aligned with a premium training environment
- You’re not looking to “rent random space”—you want to build something
What you get
- Access to a clean, organized performance training facility
- Strength and performance-focused equipment and training zones
- Scheduling structure designed to support both adult and athlete training
- Opportunity for referrals and collaboration (optional)
- A culture built around coaching standards and client results
What we expect
- Maintain a professional coaching standard and client experience
- Follow facility rules, scheduling, and equipment care procedures
- Carry your own professional liability insurance
- No unsafe training practices; respect cap limits and space zones
- Maintain clean-up standards after sessions
Structure / Compensation
We can structure this in one of three ways depending on your volume:
- Hourly facility access rate
- Monthly “time block” access (preferred for consistent trainers)
- Revenue split on sessions conducted at MTF (case-by-case)
Details will be discussed based on your schedule, client volume, and preferred training times.
Ideal specialties (not required)
- Strength training and body recomposition for adults
- Sports performance / youth athlete development
- Corrective exercise / mobility
- Return-to-training experience (PT coordination a plus)
