POSITION SUMMARY:
The HR Generalist serves as a key partner in fostering a safe, compliant, and positive work environment at our Great Falls, SC facility. This role acts as the conscience of the business, supporting both leadership and frontline operations. The HR Generalist provides strategic and tactical HR support, ensuring alignment with company values and operational goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety & Compliance
- Partner with plant leadership to champion workplace safety initiatives, including training, coaching, and mentoring within the Safety System.
- Identify HR compliance risks and collaborate with HR leadership to develop and implement corrective action plans.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Build positive employee relations and resolve workplace issues in partnership with leadership.
- Conduct investigations to address personal observations and/or employee concerns.
- Coordinate employee recognition programs, service awards, and facility events.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Manage recruitment for production facility positions, including job postings and outreach to local workforce development organizations.
- Conduct pre-employment assessments and coordinate onboarding and orientation activities.
HR Administration
- Maintain accurate and secure HR records, including personnel files, medical files, and I-9 documentation, in compliance with retention policies.
- Process unemployment claims and participate in appeal hearings as needed.
- Support payroll processing in UKG, including reviewing timecards, applying pay codes, and ensuring timely weekly payroll.
Performance & Development
- Administer performance appraisal and merit increase processes in coordination with plant and HR leadership.
- Assist leadership with workforce planning, recruitment decisions, and employee development initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support for finance-related HR tasks such as 401(k) audits and payroll reporting.
- Participate in daily production meetings and collaborate on business policy development to protect both employees and the organization.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 3 years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or plant environment
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred; HR certification highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of HR compliance, employee relations, and payroll processes
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism, escalating issues appropriately when needed
- Proactive, self-directed, and able to work collaboratively in a team environment to resolve issues and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting
- Energetic team player with a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail and exceptional organizational abilities
- Dependable with reliable transportation
- Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse work environment; bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with HRIS and payroll systems preferred (UKG experience a plus)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work primarily in a manufacturing facility-based office
- Maintain a regular presence on the production floor to build trust and foster strong employee relationships
- Maintain availability for urgent issues outside of standard working hours, except during holidays or approved time off (with flexibility for exceptional circumstances).
- Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, twist, and bend regularly to complete job tasks
