POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Training & Development, reporting to the AVP of Human Resources, leads the design, delivery, and evaluation of training programs that strengthen leadership, enhance employee skills, and ensure compliance with required trainings. This role oversees onboarding, professional development initiatives, and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), while partnering with supervisors and HR leadership to support employee growth, including individualized plans for those on Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs). By aligning learning opportunities with institutional goals and monitoring employee satisfaction, the Director fosters an engaged, inclusive, and high-performing workplace at Moravian University.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Learning & Development Programs:
  • Partner with supervisors and managers to assess training needs and design targeted learning opportunities for new hires, managers, and employees at all levels.
  • Develop and facilitate required and elective training sessions, both in-person and virtual, ensuring consistent quality and accessibility.
  • Coordinate and deliver ad hoc training sessions requested by departments or campus leadership.
  • Create and implement development programs for supervisors to strengthen leadership, communication, and performance management skills.
  • Collaborate with the AVP of HR to design individual training and development plans for employees on Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), including coaching resources and targeted growth opportunities.
  • Create, support, and advise Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to promote inclusion, belonging, and professional growth across the University community.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through feedback surveys, performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Onboarding & Orientation:
  • Lead the facilitation of the University’s new hire onboarding program alongside the AVP of HR.
  • Ensure onboarding sessions provide consistent messaging on University culture, compliance, and resources.
  • Develop supplemental onboarding resources and training toolkits for supervisors.
  • Review employee satisfaction survey results forwarded by the Director of Compensation & HR Data and ensure identified issues are addressed through appropriate training and development initiatives.
Compliance & Policy Alignment:
  • Serve as the University’s compliance manager for mandatory employee trainings (e.g., Title IX, harassment prevention, FERPA, etc).
  • Track completion rates, generate compliance reports, and ensure adherence to regulatory timelines.
  • Work alongside of HR Assistant to track and manage mandatory background checks for all employees.
  • Assist the AVP of HR in drafting, revising, and implementing HR policies.

    Strategic HR Partnership:
  • Support campus-wide professional development initiatives that enhance employee engagement, retention, and institutional excellence.
  • Research training trends and recommend new tools, platforms, and methods for continuous learning.
  • Partner with the AVP of HR to integrate training into overall HR strategy and institutional goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field (Master’s and/or SHRM certification highly preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in training, organizational development, or HR.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, and instructional design skills.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and training evaluation methods.
  • Experience managing compliance training and tracking systems.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to build relationships across departments.
  • Higher education or nonprofit experience is strongly preferred.

Salary : $64,961 - $100,327
