Overview:
The Historic Downtown Campus of Moravian Academy, serving children preschool-aged through grade 8 in the Lehigh Valley, seeks fluent Spanish-speaking per diem substitute teachers for the current school year. This position involves teaching and caring for students across grade levels on an as-needed basis in our Spanish Immersion Program. Assignments may range from single-day coverage to extended placements depending on school needs.
We seek innovative candidates, technology savvy, who have a firm grasp of teaching pedagogy, and who embrace the unique developmental stages of students aged three through fourteen years old.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Step into designated classrooms and effectively manage all aspects of day-to-day operations
- Follow existing lesson plans and adapt instruction as needed to meet diverse learners' academic, social, and emotional needs
- Maintain consistent communication with school personnel and administration regarding student progress and classroom management
- Create a well-managed, mutually respectful, and welcoming classroom environment • Collaborate with other school personnel as needed during assignment periods
- Support students in various settings including 1:1, small group, and whole class instruction
- Provide coverage for recess, lunch duties, and other supervisory responsibilities as assigned
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all school-related matters
Qualifications:
- Fluent Spanish speaker (required)
- Passion for teaching and working with children
- Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred
- Ability to quickly adapt to different classroom environments and teaching styles
- Strong classroom management skills and flexibility
- Experience following lesson plans and ability to improvise appropriately when needed
- Training in research-based best practices and current teaching methods preferred
- Experience with Responsive Classroom, Singapore Math, and Wilson Fundations a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Availability to work on short notice and flexible scheduling
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field
- Valid teaching certification or substitute teaching permit preferred
- Background check and clearances as required by Pennsylvania state law
