What are the responsibilities and job description for the Compliance Manager position at Moran Yacht Management Inc?
Moran Yacht Management is looking for a Compliance Officer. We are looking for someone who has experience either on yachts or passenger ships as an Officer or Engineer that would like to work shore based from our headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This person will be a dynamic, team player, who understands the nature of the yachting industry and is able to adapt to changes with ease. This position requires someone that has a background in Maritime Regulation and understands the technical aspects of yachts.
This role includes, but is not limited to the following duties:
•Monitors the safe operation of the vessel and provides a link between the Company and those aboard
•Maintains the Safety Management System and its implementation
•Monitors the safety and pollution prevention aspects of vessel operations
•Ensures that the system complies and is updated with the requirements of the ISM Code & other International Regulation
•Identifies and manages programs for improvement
•Deals with all NCR’s and NCN's relating to shipboard and shore-based operations
•Assists the vessels and Company in safety and pollution prevention activities including exercises with third-party contractors
•Oversees that the Company and the vessel meets National and International requirements and regulations together with the Fleet Managers, DPA’s
•Review and revises company safety policies and procedures. Monitor the implementation and coordinate action plans for the updates and modifications of the Company ISM SMS.
•Identifies and appraises conditions which could produce accidents and financial losses and evaluates potential extent of injuries resulting from accidents.
•Monitor and review the vessel planned maintenances, offer suggestions for existing and new equipment that would increase efficiency and safety of operations.
•Assists the fleet Masters, Officers, crew and other shoreside departments to control the management system software operability
Desired Qualifications:
- Ideally looking for someone who has completed DPA and/or CSO courses and carries certification
- Minimum 5 years working on yachts or passenger ships OR 5 years in a shore-based role with experience in yacht/ship management or Regulation
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
- Excellent ability to multi-task and prioritize duties
- Previous experience with MMV software a plus, but not required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
- Must be a US Citizen or be legally authorized to work in US.
- Willing to travel up to 30%. Must have valid documentation to travel internationally
