What are the responsibilities and job description for the Admissions Support Assistant position at Moraine Valley Community College?
Under the direction, the Admissions Support Assistant will assist the admissions and recruitment staff with welcoming prospective students and community members entering Building S and visiting the admissions office, assist with on campus recruitment events and preparation and distribution of recruitment materials, assist with onboarding new students, and work closely with the recruitment staff to support the admissions office’s initiatives, programs, assessment, and goals. The Admissions Support Assistant will be dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing skills and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.
- Greet and welcome prospective students, community members, and current students at the admissions information booth. Act as first point of contact to answer general questions, triage, and direct people to appropriate offices.
- Develop a thorough understanding of MVCC catalog, college programs, enrollment services processes, and retention initiatives.
- Stay current with knowledge and use of MVCC student portal, phone system, and Colleague.
- Lead campus tours and support the Director of Admissions and Recruitment in assisting student employees.
- Support the admissions office throughout the whole student experience.
- Support the admissions recruiters to communicate with prospective and current students via phone or email.
- Support all functions and initiatives within the admissions office, such as recruitment events, open houses, information sessions, on campus MVCC tours, etc.
- Assist with the design and execution of special events, projects, and activities as requested.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
High school diploma or GED and a minimum 1 year related experience in a work environment requiring close attention to detail required. Associates Degree in related area and experience with Ellucian Colleague database is preferred. Bilingual skills welcomed.
Software and skills proficiency testing for the specific position will be required upon hire and must be successfully completed within the probationary period,if this testing has not been previously completed.

Qualifications
In addition to those outlined above, the following qualifications are sought:
- Good customer relations skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and interact with area staff, college staff, faculty, students and community residents.
- Must possess basic computational skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Ability to analyze, integrate and coordinate data.
- Exercises occasional independent action involving the interpretation of established practices and procedures.
- Good organizational skills and knowledge of FERPA law is preferred.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for long periods of time; the role frequently requires employee to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear; occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or lift.
