Location: This is a nationwide traveling position. 100% travel required.

We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Directional Boring Operator to join our team. This role is responsible for operating horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment to install underground utilities safely and accurately. The ideal candidate has hands-on HDD experience, understands underground utility work, and consistently follows all safety procedures. Safety is our top priority, and strict adherence to company and regulatory safety standards is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate HDD Equipment: Safely set up and operate horizontal directional drilling rigs to bore underground pathways for utilities according to project specifications.
- Jobsite Setup: Assist with locating, measuring, and setting up bore paths, entry/exit points, and equipment positioning.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, jobsite hazard awareness, and adherence to OSHA and company safety guidelines.
- Equipment Inspections & Maintenance: Perform daily pre- and post-operation inspections and routine maintenance on drilling equipment; report mechanical issues promptly.
- Utility Awareness: Read and understand utility locates, bore profiles, and project plans to avoid existing underground utilities.
- Monitoring & Adjustments: Monitor bore progress, drilling fluid usage, and equipment performance; make adjustments as needed to maintain accuracy and safety.
- Documentation: Complete required job logs, safety checklists, and production reports accurately and on time.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with supervisors, locators, laborers, and crew members to ensure projects are completed efficiently and safely.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2-5 years proven experience operating boring machines or similar equipment.
- CDL Class A Preferred
- Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and tooling instructions.
- Physical Fitness: Strong physical stamina for heavy lifting and extended periods of standing in all weather conditions.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and precision in work.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
