Duties
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, and building automation controls.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, electrical diagrams, and HVAC design plans to accurately diagnose issues.
- Perform electrical diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters to identify faults in electrical systems associated with HVAC equipment.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance on mechanical systems to ensure longevity and efficient operation.
- Repair plumbing components related to HVAC systems such as condensate drains and refrigerant lines.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures by analyzing mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration components to determine root causes.
- Assist in the installation of new HVAC systems following industry standards and safety protocols while adhering to EPA regulations for refrigerants.
- Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports for all repairs and maintenance activities.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients about system issues, repair timelines, and maintenance recommendations.
- Support building automation systems (BAS) integration to optimize system performance and energy management.
Experience
- Proven experience as an HVAC service technician or in a similar construction or mechanical repair role with a focus on HVAC/R systems.
- Strong understanding of schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, HVAC design principles, and mechanical systems repair.
- Hands-on experience with HVAC system installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair across various types of equipment including refrigeration units and boilers.
- Knowledge of plumbing systems related to HVAC applications is preferred.
- Familiarity with electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters is essential for troubleshooting electrical faults.
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately to diagnose complex issues efficiently.
- Prior experience working with building automation systems (BAS), electrical systems, and HVAC/R technology is highly desirable.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record is required for travel between job sites; specific certifications such as EPA certification for refrigerants are mandatory.
