Essential Responsibilities
- Deliver instruction using approved curriculum and effective teaching techniques.
- Develop long-range lesson plans and clear learning objectives for students.
- Monitor student progress regularly and adjust instruction as needed.
- Provide additional academic support outside regular classroom hours for students needing extra help.
- Address disciplinary concerns in alignment with Mooseheart's behavior management model.
- Model and promote socially appropriate behavior, including professional dress, communication, and conduct.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational best practices.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding youth, staff, and community information.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by the Superintendent of Education, Assistant Principal, or Executive Director of Mooseheart Operations.
- Bachelor's degree in an applicable field (required).
- Valid Illinois teaching license or eligibility to meet Illinois certification requirements.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
- Experience with behavior management preferred.
- Prior experience working with youth or in a supervisory capacity preferred.
- Must pass a comprehensive background check, including DCFS fingerprint clearance.
- Salary: Starting at $35,000 per year (aligned with the teacher salary schedule).
