As a Quality Improvement Specialist / Trainer, you'll play a key role in ensuring that our programs consistently meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. Position Summary

This position supports the Quality Improvement (QI) department in maintaining program excellence through reviews, data collection, staff training, and investigations. The QI Specialist / Trainer ensures that our practices meet both regulatory standards and the values of our Model of Care, promoting accountability, learning, and continuous improvement across all programs.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal and external evaluations across residential, educational, clinical, and community programs, and prepare professional summary reports.
  • Lead and support Residential Program Reviews, including unannounced visits, documentation checks, and youth file audits; provide written recommendations for program improvement.
  • Collect, enter, and analyze data to support ongoing quality improvement initiatives and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Facilitate engaging and informative training sessions during Pre-Service Workshops and in-service events to strengthen staff knowledge and performance.
  • Administer and report on Youth Safety Questionnaires, ensuring timely and accurate follow-up.
  • Participate in investigations of alleged inappropriate practices, maintaining objectivity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Conduct post-incident ("post-vention") debriefs following restraint or seclusion events to support staff learning and reflection.
  • Review and monitor incident reports for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with DCFS standards.
  • Maintain secure and confidential documentation in accordance with agency and licensing requirements.
  • Support departmental goals and other initiatives as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Solid understanding of the Mooseheart Model of Care and best practices in residential child and youth care.
  • Excellent communication skills-written, verbal, and presentation-with the ability to convey information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities, with meticulous attention to detail in reporting and documentation.
  • Confidence and professionalism when facilitating trainings and discussions with staff teams.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to remain composed in complex or high-pressure situations.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science or related field strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of experience with the Teaching Family Model preferred.
  • License: Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.

Physical Requirements

  • Sedentary to light work; occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, walking, and standing; occasional bending, stooping, or climbing stairs.
  • Ability to travel between buildings or off-site locations for reviews, investigations, and trainings.

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with regular movement across a multi-building campus.
  • Some periods of higher stress may occur due to investigations, deadlines, or heavy workloads.
