Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced skid steer operator to safely and efficiently operate a skid steer, (wheeled or tracked) with common attachments, such as a bucket, grapple, rake, brush cutter, forks or broom for land clearing, grading, and site preparation projects. This role is critical to supporting construction and land development by moving soil, trees and debris, as well as shaping terrain according to project specifications. The ideal candidate has proven operating skills, a strong safety mindset and the ability to work effectively with a team. Proficiency in operating a skid steer with a mulching head attachment is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate skid steer to clear land, push soil, trees and debris, and grade terrain.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance (fluid checks, greasing, cleaning).
- Work closely with ground crews, truck drivers and Foreman to maintain efficient site operations.
- Follow project plans and grade specifications to ensure accurate site preparation.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations and environmental standards.
- Report mechanical issues or safety hazards promptly to supervisors.
- Assist with additional land clearing or construction-related tasks when needed.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience operating a skid steer (required).
- Knowledge of grading techniques, land clearing methods and safe equipment operation.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather and terrain conditions.
- Strong communication skills and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to travel to job sites (per diem provided where applicable).
- Valid driver’s license (required).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and operate equipment for long periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. for maintenance or repair needs.
