Job Summary:
The Machinist is responsible for setting up, and operating machinery to produce the necessary parts while maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. Works under general supervision; relies on experience and general instructions to perform the functions of the job.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
- Determine the proper tools and machining sequences necessary to produce quality parts
- Inspecting finished parts to ensure they are in specified tolerances
- Performs regular, preventative maintenance on machinery in the machine shop
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Performs duties consistent with safety rules and procedures
- Performs other duties as required
- Must be able to operate surface grinder, I.D. and O.D grinders; manual lathes; vertical and horizontal milling machines; drill press.
- Must be able to hold tolerances of .0005 or tighter.
- Demonstrate ability to read blueprints, technical diagrams, and operating manuals.
- Must be able to use precision measuring instruments.
- Must be able to read and understand the metric system.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to produce work in a timely-manner and meet deadlines.
- Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must have good organizational skills and be detail-oriented.
- Must be able to work as a team and collaborate with co-workers.
- Ability to work at a rapid pace with accuracy to repair or make parts and minimize production downtime.
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English; ability read and write English
- Ability to identify safety issues in their work area.
- Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues that arise during the manufacturing process.
- Knowledge of mig, tig, arc welding a plus.
- Knowledge of Haas, Mazak and Proto-Trak CNC a plus.
- High school education or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years work experience of manual machining experience
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 to 75 pounds.
- Requires frequent standing, walking, carrying, climbing, bending, stooping and reaching.
