Join our dedicated animal rescue team as an Animal Rescue Kennel Assistant and play a vital role in providing compassionate care and support for rescued animals. You will be responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and comfortable kennels, assisting with daily animal husbandry tasks, and supporting the Director and volunteer staff to ensure optimal health and well-being of our rescued animals. Responsibilities
- Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and surrounding areas to ensure a hygienic environment for animals
- Assist with feeding, watering, and administering medications to animals according to Director instructions
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques during routine care or veterinary procedures
- Support the Director and volunteer staff with animal handling, restraint, and basic medical procedures such as administering treatments
- Monitor animals’ health and behavior, reporting any concerns or abnormalities to the Director
- Support pet care activities such as grooming, socialization, and enrichment to promote positive behavior and comfort
- Monitor kennel security
- Maintain isolation of quarantined animals
Qualifications
- Previous kennel experience or background in animal husbandry required
- Experience with animal restraint techniques and medication administration required
- Ability to handle various animals including dogs, cats, species with patience and confidence
- Excellent animal handling skills combined with a compassionate attitude toward rescued animals
- Must be able to safely carry 50 lbs
