Position Summary
This is not a basic warehouse packing job.
The Order Packer for Finished Leather Products is responsible for precision handling, inspection, and packaging of high-value leather hides and materials. This role requires strong attention to detail, independent thinking, and pride in workmanship to ensure every customer order is packaged accurately, safely, and professionally.
Our leather is a premium product, and the way it is packed directly impacts customer satisfaction, product quality, and company reputation.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret customer picklists to determine correct quantities, materials, and special handling requirements
- Communicate clearly with forklift drivers regarding exact bin locations and product specifications
- Verify all materials delivered to the packing station for accuracy, condition, and bin location
- Inspect hides and packaging materials at every step to ensure quality, protection, and presentation
- Thoughtfully sort, roll, and prepare leather hides based on size, weight, and order requirements
- Select appropriate packaging materials and containers to prevent damage, creasing, or moisture exposure
- Apply protective wrapping when required and ensure proper load distribution and stability
- Accurately record order details including weights, order numbers, and handling notes
- Update paperwork when bin locations or product details change
- Follow all customer-specific packing instructions precisely
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Warehouse experience required (minimum 3 years)
- Ability to communicate clearly in a fast-paced environment
- English proficiency preferred
Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking, reaching, and handling materials throughout the shift
- Regular lifting up to 70 pounds (team lifting required for heavier or oversized items)
- Ability to roll, lift, and position large leather hides
- Color vision required to distinguish materials accurately
Work Environment
- Warehouse setting (unheated, non-air-conditioned)
- Moderate noise level
