Reports To: Warehouse Manager / Operations Manager / CEO

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, steady, and hands-on Warehouse Lead to oversee first-shift shipping and fulfillment operations. This role is responsible for ensuring orders are picked, packed, and shipped accurately and efficiently while maintaining structure, accountability, and professionalism on the warehouse floor.

This is a working leadership role. The Warehouse Lead is expected to actively ship alongside the team when volume requires, while also serving as the primary point of direction, training reinforcement, and escalation during their shift.

This role is not a learning or trial leadership position. The ideal candidate has prior experience leading teams in a fast-paced fulfillment or warehouse environment and is comfortable balancing empathy with accountability.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Fulfillment

  • Oversee all first-shift warehouse operations, including picking, packing, and shipping.
  • Actively participate in shipping orders as needed to meet daily volume goals.
  • Ensure orders are fulfilled accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards.
  • Monitor workflow and productivity to maintain steady output throughout the shift.
  • Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and handling of products to prevent errors or damage.
  • Conduct quality checks on outgoing shipments to uphold accuracy standards.

Floor Leadership & Shift Oversight

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for first-shift warehouse staff.
  • Assign tasks, adjust workflows, and respond to operational needs in real time.
  • Maintain a calm, focused, and productive work environment during high-volume periods.
  • Set the tone for professionalism, reliability, and accountability on the floor.
  • Ensure full shift coverage and presence for the duration of the scheduled shift.

Training & Knowledge Reinforcement

  • Reinforce training provided during daytime onboarding to ensure first-shift employees meet performance and accuracy expectations.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and real-time feedback to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Assist with training new hires assigned to the first shift when operational needs require.
  • Identify training gaps or recurring issues and communicate recommendations to leadership.

Scheduling, Attendance & Coverage

  • Support first-shift staffing coverage and communicate scheduling or attendance issues to leadership.
  • Monitor attendance and address call-outs, tardiness, or coverage gaps during the shift.
  • Ensure timecards are accurate and submitted according to company procedures.
  • Coordinate with daytime leadership to ensure smooth handoffs between shifts.

Inventory Awareness & Accuracy

  • Support inventory accuracy through proper handling, storage, and labeling of products.
  • Assist with cycle counts, spot checks, and audits as directed.
  • Identify discrepancies, damaged goods, or low-stock issues and report them promptly.
  • Ensure inventory is rotated, stored, and staged correctly during the shift.

Coaching, Corrective Action & Accountability

  • Address performance, attendance, or conduct concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Lead coaching and corrective conversations in alignment with company policies with support of Warehouse manager.
  • Document incidents, coaching discussions, and corrective actions as required.
  • Escalate serious, repeat, or sensitive issues to leadership following established procedures.

This role requires confidence in holding boundaries and addressing issues directly rather than avoiding or deferring them.

Communication & Reporting

  • Communicate nightly progress, shipping output, and operational issues to leadership.
  • Flag bottlenecks, staffing challenges, or system issues proactively.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with both staff and management.
  • Escalate issues appropriately rather than attempting to manage beyond role scope.

What This Role Is / Is Not

This role is:

  • Hands-on and operational
  • Leadership-focused but execution-driven
  • Accountable for the success of the shift
  • Fast paced and detail oriented

This role is not:

  • A corporate or desk-based position
  • Responsible for company-wide strategy, payroll decisions, or terminations
  • A “learn as you go” leadership opportunity

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of warehouse, fulfillment, or shipping leadership experience
  • Proven experience supervising teams in fast-paced environments
  • Comfortable leading corrective and accountability conversations
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
  • Ability to remain calm, decisive, and solutions-focused under pressure
  • Reliable and available

Preferred Experience

  • High-volume e-commerce fulfillment environments
  • Inventory control and audit processes
  • Training and onboarding support
  • KPI tracking or productivity reporting

What We’re Looking For

  • A steady leader who takes ownership of their shift
  • Someone who understands that accuracy matters as much as speed
  • A professional who upholds structure without micromanaging
  • A leader who communicates clearly, stays present, and does not abandon their role under pressure
