Job Details
40% System Administration & Automation
- Install, configure, and maintain Oracle Solaris 10/11 systems in production and non-production environments.
- Perform user and account management, RBAC configuration, system troubleshooting, and performance analysis.
- Develop automation scripts using Shell, Python, or Ansible (Solaris-compatible playbooks).
- Administer Solaris Zones, LDoms (Oracle VM for SPARC), and related virtualization technologies.
- Manage OS patching, system updates, and package deployments using IPS, Live Upgrade, and Enterprise Manager Ops Center.
20% Security & Compliance
- Apply system hardening guidelines including CIS Benchmarks, DISA STIGs, and internal security policies.
- Manage PKI, SSL/TLS certificates, and secure communication configurations.
- Configure SMF security, auditing, host-based firewalls, and access controls.
- Monitor logs, detect anomalies, and respond to security alerts and incidents.
15% DevOps & Integration
- Support containerized or zone-based deployments and automation workflows.
- Integrate source control and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or similar tools.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to align system automation with application delivery.
15% Infrastructure Integration
- Integrate Solaris systems with storage, backup, databases, and enterprise middleware platforms.
- Administer SPARC servers, LDoms, and ZFS storage pools.
- Support hybrid cloud initiatives and Solaris workload migrations.
- Coordinate with network, storage, and cloud teams to ensure system availability.
10% Documentation & Collaboration
- Maintain system build standards and operational documentation.
- Create runbooks, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
- Participate in enterprise modernization and transformation initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 8 years of hands-on Solaris system administration experience.
- Strong expertise in Zones, LDoms, ZFS, and SMF.
- Experience with patching, performance tuning, and system hardening.
- Experience with Ansible, Python, or Shell scripting.
- Solid understanding of network services such as DNS, NTP, and LDAP.
- Experience working with enterprise storage and backup systems.
