The Moon Township Police Department services the Township of Moon which is located in Allegheny County located in southwestern Pennsylvania approximately 12 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. The Township covers an area of approximately 24 square miles with a population of over 27,000.
The Moon Township Police Department is a small to mid‐size police department which consists of 34 sworn law enforcement officers. The department employs 10 civilian support personnel which includes a full time dispatch center.
The Moon Township Police Department performs many specialized duties and offers expanded services to the community. Most officers of the department have advanced training in varying fields. The department strives to seek out and provide additional training to its officers in a continuing effort to improve the effectiveness of its operations.
The department participates in joint law enforcement efforts including the West Hills DUI Task Force, United States Secret Service Cyber Fraud Task Force, Allegheny County District Attorney Narcotics Enforcement Team, SHACOG CIRT (Critical Incident Response Team), SHACOG Crash Reconstruction Team, SHACOG Support Team, and cooperative efforts with many other agencies.
Role Description
This is a full-time Police Officer position located in Moon Township, PA. The Police Officer will be responsible for maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, and conducting criminal investigations. Daily tasks include patrolling assigned areas, responding to emergencies, gathering evidence, and providing testimony in court. Additionally, the Police Officer will collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community members to ensure a safe environment.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
21 years of age
MPOETC certification preferred but not required (well qualified candidates will be considered for police academy training and MPOETC certification)
Education:
60 college credits without any experience
30 college credits with at least (2) two years full time law enforcement experience
30 college credits with at least (2) two years military service and honorable discharge
30 college credits with 3,648 hours of part time law enforcement experience in less than (4) four years
