Job Title: Sr Test Systems Engineer - Huntsville, AL Reporting To: Mgr., SDG Staff Engineering Work Schedule: Onsite – Huntsville, AL Moog HVS is growing! We’re seeking an Sr. Test System Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, Alabama. Moog Space and Defense Group is projecting significant growth driven by high levels of U.S. Department of Defense growth. The East Aurora, NY Hypersonic Vehicle Systems (HVS) Team supplies a variety of complex integrated guidance, navigation, and control (iGNC) systems that can include Electro-Mechanical Actuation Systems, Thrust Vector Control Systems, Thermal Batteries, Attitude Control Systems, and a Multi-Effector Controller for hypersonic vehicles. This specific role will focus on the hardware in the loop (HWIL) testing in our Huntsville Alabama facility and support our programs through testing, validation, verification, and system architecture as well as technology development, qualification, and production insertion. The position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance and access to U.S. export-controlled information. The selected candidate will support all HWIL testing in Huntsville, and remotely (with some travel) support testing needs (test plans, verification, validation, testing, etc.) and supporting system architecture (CAMEO/MBSE) and controls tuning. This will include determining the customer’s needs, Moog product architecture, analysis approaches and project management processes (cost and schedule). They will also be expected to learn the product development process and support proposals and development programs. Responsibilities include: Run the HWIL for customer and government show and tell demos as well as program qualifications Support requirements creation in early development focusing on verification/validation Create test plans, procedures, and reports in partnership with product engineering team for the successful validation of hardware and software. Validate conceptual design problems by performing trade studies, detailed analysis and simulation models. Contribute to the product development through participation in the integration and test of components. Contribute to the creation, development and management of requirements databases and interface control documents. Create concise reports and proposal write-ups that describe the design decisions and analysis results. Contribute to the preparation of successful proposals. Contributions to include verification and validation approaches, component level design requirements, requirements compliance assessment and technical write-ups Manage assigned work within authorized budget and schedule. Operate as a contributing member of in a team of creative, independent individuals Represent Moog in a manner consistent with its strong technical reputation. Qualifications: Master of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering or Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering plus 6 years of experience in a design / development engineering is required. A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology is not acceptable. Proven general capabilities/competencies in Adaptability, Decision Making, Initiating Action, and Communication. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
